I SURE DO MISS THOSE HONEY VANILLA BEAN CARAMELS!
HOW COME YOU WENT FULL VEGAN WITH YOUR COMPANY?
When I started my company, I made dairy & honey based confections, and they were amazing! After a few months of being in business, I met with the buyer at a local co-op grocery store where I would soon be selling my confections. Since my grama taught me never to visit with an empty plate, I asked the buyer how many people worked at the store. (Like I could show up without suitable treats for everybody?) When she told me many of the folks were vegan, I initially thought, "How the hell am I supposed to make caramel without cream?" I decided to fiddle with my formulas, make a few substitutions and create something that vegans would (hopefully) enjoy. My new vegan offerings were well received, and just as delicious as any of the dairy based confections I had been making. I added several vegan flavors to my product line, but continued to make dairy versions ... until I learned about the tireless efforts and boundless compassion of Farm Sanctuary, and fell in love with Petunia and Blitzen and Noel and every other safe, loved and happy animal the Farm Sanctuary angels have rescued from an unspeakably cruel fate. I learned about things that were hard to watch but important to see, and that left me forever changed. After that, making the jump from a'Vegan Friendly'company to a 'Hell-Yes-Full-On-Vegan' business was a matter of course.
WHAT'S WITH THE OCD REFERENCE?
DO YOU MAKE CUSTOM FLAVORS?
I named my company based upon two strong forces in my life:
A never ending desire to craft all things wonderful in my kitchen,
and a lifelong struggle with a far less playful version of OCD.
I figure I am entitled to take liberties with the term, since I have been plagued my entire life. I am hoping to make it
work for me rather than against me for a change.
As a matter of fact - I do!
Maybe you're in the mood for a brussel sprout balsamic caramel, and you can't find one anywhere. Or you're looking for the perfect way to announce the arrival of a precious little one, OR you want your wedding guests to rave more about the impossibly delicious caramel favors than the ceremony.
Let's sit down (or email) to discuss ideas and pricing.
I'll accept (almost) any challenge.
